Tobi, one of my favorite online retailers for inexpensive, on trend items is having a fab 50% off promotion. The pieces above are whats in my cart, but with new items added daily its hard to make a final decision-- especially loving the skater dress though, so cute for a night out with the girls!

I'm taking advantage of my last summer friday {office closes at 1} of the season to post these pictures my friend Jessica from Bows & Sequins took. Usually I don't like photos taken at night, but I thought she made these look awesome. Seriously, girl was sitting down on the NYC sidewalk. Thats dedication.

I wore this outfit to work and then out to drinks with Jessica afterwards. My office is pretty casual, but I felt like it was a good transition outfit nevertheless. Always on the lookout for good places to go in NYC for after work drinks, any recommendations??

I promise I have a good explanation for the lack of posts lately so here goes: I moved to New York City. Reasonable excuse? I think so. The whole move was a pretty big undertaking and it took a while to get settled and get all of my ducks in a row. I'm still getting moved in and organized, but I'm really looking forward to doing a post about my new (tiny) apartment. I'm still going keep posting, but until I find someone who can take pictures of me I might have to post a few selfies of my daily outfits, like so...

Okay... bear with me while I get the hang of this thing. Photos will get better. I swear.

So I'll leave you with a promise of more details to come, but as I'm new to NYC I could use any advice y'all can think of! Stop saying y'all? Never.

By now you've noticed that things have been pretty quiet around here the last week. The only thing I can say to that is this: sometimes life gets in the way. Many bloggers will tell you that when things get hectic, it gets hard to keep up with posts. I'm so sorry to have let things get away from me, and I promise there is some great stuff coming up!

Anywho, this causal quickie is a favorite outfit of mine-- I seriously want to LIVE in this plaid top. Not to mention, some days all you wanna do is throw your hair in a pony and be a little grungy, and to that I say hell. yes.

Top: TJ Maxx {similar, on sale} // Shorts: DIY {similar} // Boots: Dolce Vita {newer version here} // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Having a birthday on the Fourth of July means that over the years I've amassed an impressive collection of American flag memorabilia (seriously, I have everything from these shoes to towels to sunglasses to placemats). These shoes were a Christmas gift years ago, and not that I need a special excuse to wear them, I figured the closing ceremonies would be a good one seeing as I've been living my life vicariously through the Olympics these past couple weeks. I even attempted to get back in the pool in a misguided attempt to turn myself into the next Missy Franklin (age be damned), and ended up with a pretty sweet one piece tan. So here's to a great 2012 Olympics, and may the next four years fly by!

Dress {worn as shirt}: Forever 21 {old, similar top version here} // Shorts: J Crew // Shoes: Converse {newer version} // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff // Scarf: Armani Exchange {old, but I picked up this similar one from Target last week} // Hoops: Natasha // Bracelets: Forever 21, Target {similar} // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

One thing I struggle with during the sweltering summer months in the South is finding stylish shorts. Although I wish it were possible, denim cutoffs just aren't appropriate for everything. I recently found these metallic French Connection shorts on sale and loved the fabric so much I picked up the dress version too {links to both below}. I'm also looking forward to wearing them with tights and a leather jacket in the fall-- so definitely worth the money.

Jacket: Ann Taylor // Tee: Aerie // Shorts: French Connection {on sale, also in a dress version here} // Shoes: Sam Edelman {on sale, plus more colors!} // Wallet: Kate Spade {sold out, but other similar faves here and here} // Necklace: Madison {a favorite Raleigh, NC boutique}  // Bracelets: Betsey Johnson {similar}, CMI Jewelry // Ring: Forever 21 // Sunglasses: Ray Ban // Nails: Essie Peach Daiquiri
